Potassium

Basically, potassium is a chemical that helps regulate the fluids of the body. It is especially important for blood pressure, and kids need a minimum of several thousand milligrams a day. Luckily, there are many foods that hold potassium in high amounts. Most famously: bananas. Yep, bananas do carry quite a bit of potassium. Even if your child doesn’t like bananas, it would be in your best interest to find some recipes that let you hide bananas inside of the food to get them those nutrients they need!

Calcium

Next up: calcium. Calcium is indeed very well-known for helping out in the creation of bones and teeth, which is entirely true. But it also is essential in keeping the heart and nerves functioning in peak condition. Many kinds of beans, spinach, and cheese contain high amounts of calcium. And of course – so does milk. A serving of milk provides 30% of your child’s daily calcium. If your child is lactose intolerant, or simply a picky eater, calcium vitamins are another option that you can consider. Look for gummy options since vitamins that are taken as a pill tend to be harder for children to take.

Protein

Last but certainly not least is protein. Protein supports a lot of basic functions of the body, but it is most important because of the role it plays in physical growth. You can see why this would be so important for kids! Kids are growing faster than they ever will again in their lives. They need all of the protein they can get to have healthy bodies. Eggs, meat, yogurt, and nuts are some examples of foods that are rich in protein – not to mention cottage cheese and lentils. You have a lot of options to choose from!

You want to give your kids the best life they can possibly get. So, make sure they don’t miss out on the nutrients they need to help them feel good and grow! As difficult as it can be, you want to ensure that they don’t ever miss these supplements.
