A trip to Disney World is a rite of passage for many families. As the king of all theme parks, this Orlando resort boasts four distinct amusement parks, two water parks, and a host of hotel lodging accommodations designed to suit any taste and budget. With all of the things to do and see, it can often be overwhelming to try to plan the perfect Disney World trip. Here are a few things to keep in mind when planning your magical vacation:

More Than One Park

The Disney World complex comprises four large theme parks as well as two water parks and a massive dining and shopping district. The four theme parks are the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney Studios, and the Animal Kingdom. The two water parks are Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.

Each park covers a unique theme and contains attractions designed to appeal to people of all ages. Savvy Disney travelers understand the benefit of buying a park hopper pass, which enables you to move between the different parks as your schedule allows.

Make Dining Reservations Well in Advance

The most popular dining spots book up well in advance, often at the six-month mark. If you are going to want to dine with the Disney characters or eat at a popular themed restaurant, be sure to make your advanced dining reservation as soon as your dates are set. You can cancel up to 24 hours before the reservation time, so it does not hurt to plan ahead.

Consider Early Entry

Veteran Disney travelers recognize the importance of arriving at the gates prior to park opening. By being one of the first in line, you will ensure that you can hit all of the most popular rides before the throngs of crowds arrive. It is also recommended to make good use out of the FastPass system to secure the ability to jump to the head of the line on select attractions. Especially for the newest attractions, the crowds will be large.

The latest land to open in Disney World is Toy Story Land, which is located at Disney Studios. There are plenty of things for young children to do in Toy Story Land, including the new Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster and Alien Swirling Saucers. Be sure to get there as early as possible to beat the lines and enjoy your time.

Regardless of which features you plan to visit, doing your research prior to embarking on a Disney vacation will pay off big dividends once you hit those magical parks.
